Little Big League

Little Big League

“It's the American League! They got the DH! How hard could it be?”

Released in late June 1994, Little Big League tells the story of 12-year-old Billy Heywood (played by Luke Edwards), who inherits the Minnesota Twins franchise after his grandfather, the previous owner (Jason Robards), dies. Days after taking control, Heywood decides to take over as Manager and General Manager. He deals with schoolwork, friendships, and family life while running a team in this baseball comedy/drama.

The movie did have quite a few MLB appearances from Ken Griffey Jr, Randy Johnson, Wally Joyner, Mickey Tettleton, Sandy Alomar Jr and many more. Little Big League hit the theatres just a month shy of the 1994 Players Strike, but did not fare well due to competition from blockbusters such as Forrest Gump and The Lion King. A few weeks later, Disney released a baseball comedy with Angels in the Outfield, based on the Disney-owned California Angels (now known as the L.A. Angels).
